Education

Jackson County residents realize the value of education - not just for their enrolled children but for the generations past and present that are educated in the primary and secondary schools across the hills and valleys of our county.  Each school is unique as each developed to serve the needs of a unique community, but all are united in their desire to provide a quality program for all students served in both the Jackson County District and the Scottsboro City District.

The Chamber is proud to have an alliance with Impact Learning Center which provides basic education, job skills training and higher educational opportunities.

Quote from Cathy Mitchell, Impact Learning Center Executive Director regarding the CEO Expo.

The Career Exploration Opportunities (CEO Expo) allows ninth-grade students to experience a “hands-on” new version of Career Fair.  They are given the opportunity to try different career choices or interests, ask questions from local vendors, and to check out educational/certification requirements including salary ranges for their interests.

The purpose of the CEO Expo is to create awareness about career options among students and educators, as well as to help give our businesses and industries the skilled workforce needed to sustain and grow. This event is crucial to influencing the workforce of tomorrow by educating students today on the vast availabilities of careers in our Northeast Alabama Region. This is one of the steps in an organized plan of selecting a career and beginning career exploration.

This was our 7th Expo and we are already planning No. 8

Quote from Dr. Reyes, Scottsboro City School Superintendent

"As the new Superintendent of Scottsboro City Schools, this was the first CEO Expo that I have attended and I was thoroughly impressed with all of the hard work that went into making this event possible. It was a great opportunity for the 9th graders in the County and City School systems to experience first hand all of the potential career opportunities this region has to offer. The staff at IMPACT really set the bar high for other organizations to emulate as we look to provide this type of experience for the next generation of workers throughout our state. As an educator, it was great to see the students so engaged in the process and to see how they began to put together the correlation between what they learn in the classroom and those careers that this region offers to them."

Quote from Mr. Dukes, Jackson County School Superintendent

"Jackson County School District is committed to helping all students achieve and succeed. The CEO Expo allows for our students to see the possibilities of careers that are needed and available in our area. We are thankful for the event and the great people that host this excellent educational event.

Jackson County Schools are excited about the things that are going on in our system. Our goal is to provide a rigorous and effective instructional program to ensure the academic growth of all students. We want to make sure that all of our students graduate college and career ready. We feel it is important to engage parents and community in the educational process. We also feel it is important that we ensure that all students have optimal instructional time and the support necessary to be successful in school."
